To prevent overrunning the available runway length during a rejected takeoff (RTO), accomplish the following: (a) Within 30 days after the effective date of this AD, revise the Limitations Section of the FAA-approved Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) to change the data concerning the accelerate stop distance to be used during a RTO, in accordance with either Model A300 AFM Temporary Revision 5.02.00/1, dated December 4, 1991; Model A310 AFM Temporary Revision 5.04.00/3, dated February 13, 1992; Model A310 AFM Temporary Revision 5.04.00/1, dated October 22, 1991; Model A310 AFM Temporary Revision 5.04.00/4, dated March 6, 1992; Model A300-600 AFM Temporary Revision 5.04.00/1, dated November 4, 1991; or Model A300-600 AFM Temporary Revision 5.04.00/2, dated December 4, 1991; as applicable. (b) An alternative method of compliance or adjustment of the compliance time that provides an acceptable level of safety may be used if approved by the Manager, Standardization Branch, ANM-113, FAA, Transport Airplane Directorate. Operators shall submit their requests through an appropriate FAA Principal Maintenance Inspector, who may add comments and then send it to the Manager, Standardization Branch, ANM-113.
