Compliance required within the next 500 hours time in service after the effective date of this AD, unless already accomplished.

To preclude the possibility of rendering an engine fire extinguisher system inoperative by a single shorted cartridge unit modify the engine fire extinguisher systems in accordance with Fairchild Hiller Service Bulletins F27-26-5 or FH227-26-3 both dated May 16, 1968, as applicable, or later FAA approved revision, or an equivalent modification approved by the Chief, Engineering and Manufacturing Branch, FAA, Eastern Region.

This amendment is effective February 1, 1969.
