Unsafe Condition
The repetitive bending of the PCU output rod due to the PCU rod end spherical bearing seizing will eventually lead to fatigue failure.
Required Actions
Repetitive operational checks of the rudder PCUs and repetitive operational tests of the elevator PCUs must be performed at reduced intervals of within 200 hours airtime or 3 months, whichever occurs first, to allow earlier detection of potential single PCU disconnect cases. The actions required by Transport Canada AD CF-2023-03 are in addition to those required by Transport Canada AD CF-2018-29.
