To prevent loss of emergency power to the essential bus when the air driven generator (ADG) is deployed, accomplish the following: (a) Within 25 hours time-in-service after the effective date of this AD, inspect the ADG wiring harness to detect chafing, in accordance with Canadair Service Bulletin A600-0612 (for Model CL-600-1A11 series airplanes), dated April 24, 1991, or Canadair Service Bulletin A601-0370 (for Model CL-600-2A12 and CL-600-2B16 series airplanes), dated April 24, 1991. If chafing is found, prior to further flight, repair in accordance with the applicable service bulletin previously described. (b) Within 60 days after the effective date of this AD, modify the ADG harness installation in accordance with Canadair Service Bulletin A600-0612 (for Model CL-600-1A11 series airplanes), dated April 24, 1991, or Canadair Service Bulletin A601-0370 (for Model CL- 600-2A12 and CL-600-2B16 series airplanes), dated April 24, 1991. (c) An alternative method of compliance or adjustment of the compliance time, which provides an acceptable level of safety, may be used when approved by the Manager, New York Aircraft Certification Office, ANE-170, FAA, Engine and Propeller Directorate. NOTE: The request should be forwarded through an FAA Principal Maintenance Inspector, who may concur or comment and then send it to the Manager, New York Aircraft Certification Office, ANE-170. (d) Special flight permits may be issued in accordance with FAR 21.197 and 21.199 to operate airplanes to a base in order to comply with the requirements of this AD. (e) The inspection, repair, and modification requirements shall be done in accordance with Canadair Service Bulletin A600-0612 (for Model CL-600-1A11 series airplanes), dated April 24, 1991, or Canadair Service Bulletin A601-0370 (for Model CL-600-2A12 and CL-600-2B16 series airplanes), dated April 24, 1991.
