Conduct the functional flow check of the cargo compartment Halon fire extinguishant distribution system using guidelines in the applicable section of Maintenance Manual 26-23-00. Verify that the flow is distributed to the proper cargo compartment. B. Within the next 30 days after the effective date of this AD, inspect the cargo fire extinguishant nozzles in accordance with either Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 767-26A0036, dated March 11, 1988, or Boeing Service Letter 767-SL-26-11, dated March 10, 1988. C. Any detected cargo fire extinguishant distribution system reversals and/or covered extinguishant nozzles must be corrected, in accordance with the Boeing Model 767 Maintenance Manual, prior to further flight with baggage or cargo in either the forward or aft cargo compartments. D. Within 7 days, report a complete description of the findings from the accomplishment of the requirements paragraph A., above, from which it is determined that the flow is not distributed to the proper cargo compartment; and from the requirements of paragraph B., above, from which it is determined that a nozzle is covered; to the Manager, Seattle Aircraft Certification Office, FAA, Northwest Mountain Region, 17900 Pacific Highway South, Seattle, Washington 98168. E. An alternate means of compliance or adjustment of the compliance time, which provides an acceptable level of safety, may be used when approved by the Manager, Seattle Aircraft Certification Office, FAA, Northwest Mountain Region. NOTE: The request should be forwarded through an FAA Principal Maintenance Inspector (PMI), who may add any comments and then send it to the Seattle Aircraft Certification Office. F. Special flight permits may be issued in accordance with FAR 21.197 and 21.199 to operate airplanes to a base for the accomplishment of the tests required by this AD. All persons affected by this directive who have not already received the appropriate service information from the manufacturer may obtain copies upon request to the Boeing Commercial Airplane Company, P.O.
