87-23-07 R1 SIKORSKY AIRCRAFT DIVISION: Amendment 39-5754 as amended by Amendment 39-6091.

Applies to all Sikorsky Model S-76A/B helicopters, certificated in all categories, equipped with electrical door locking actuators installed in accordance with Sikorsky Drawing 76088-20016 using actuator P/N 22020256 in left and right passenger doors, except those helicopters which have installed a manual override kit, P/N 76070-20097. (Docket 87-ASW-30)

Compliance is required within the next 25 hours' time in service after the effective date of this AD unless already accomplished.

To prevent the passenger door locks from jamming in the locked position due to a malfunctioning electrical door locking actuator, accomplish the following:

(a) Remove electrical door locking actuators, P/N 22020256, in accordance with Sikorsky Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) No. 76-52-10A, dated August 27, 1987.

NOTE: Some of the actuators may not be identified with this P/N 22020256; however, as an alternate means of identifying these actuators, a housing/casting, P/N 20220307, appears on these units identifying them as GM actuators P/N 22020256.

(b) Upon request, with substantiating data, an alternate means of compliance which provides an equivalent level of safety or adjustment in the compliance time may be used when approved by the Manager, Boston Aircraft Certification Office, Aircraft Certification Division, Federal Aviation Administration, New England Region, 12 New England Executive Park, Burlington, Massachusetts 01803.

These procedures shall be accomplished in accordance with Sikorsky ASB No. 76-52-10A, dated August 27, 1987. This incorporation by reference was approved by the Director of the Federal Register in accordance with 5 U.S.C. 552(a)(1) and 1 CFR Part 51. Copies may be obtained from Sikorsky Aircraft, 6900 Main Street, Stratford, Connecticut 06601-1381. Copies may be inspected at the Office of the Regional Counsel, Federal Aviation Administration, 4400 Blue Mound Road, Fort Worth, Texas, or at the Office of the Federal Register, 1100 L Street, NW., Room 8401, Washington, D.C.

This amendment revises Amendment 39-5754 (52 FR 43054; November 9, 1987), AD 87-23-07 which was effective on January 11, 1989.

This amendment (39-6091, AD 87-23-07 R1) becomes effective on January 11, 1989.
