Since the existing bolts attaching each nacelle strut to the wing may be either cadmium plated, electro-nickel-plated, or devoid of plating, and are not adequately protected against corrosion, bolt failures from stress corrosion have occurred. To correct this condition, accomplish the following: (a) For bolts with 10,500 or more hours' time in service on the effective date of this AD, accomplish (c) within 1,500 hours' time in service on the effective date of this AD. (b) For bolts with less than 10,500 hours' time in service on the effective date of this AD, accomplish (c) prior to the accumulation of 12,000 hours' time in service. (c) Unless already accomplished, remove the nacelle attachment bolts and install new attachment bolts, Boeing P/N's 65-23413-1 through 65-23413-22, as applicable, or bolts reworked in accordance with Boeing Drawing No. 65-23413, or equivalent approved by the Chief Aircraft Engineering Division, FAA Western Region, on inboard and outboard engine nacelles in accordance with Figure 1 of Boeing Service Bulletins Nos. 1416 and 1416A.
