Unsafe Condition
Cracking in an MLG sliding tube, which could lead to failure of an MLG sliding tube resulting in MLG collapse, damage to the airplane, and injury to passengers.
Required Actions
Replace both main landing gear (MLG) shock absorbers, inspect affected chromium plates and sliding tube axles for damage, and replace the sliding tube if necessary. Perform repetitive inspections of affected MLG sliding tubes for cracking, replace cracked MLG sliding tubes, and eventually replace each affected MLG sliding tube. Inspect additional MLG sliding tubes, replace if necessary, and eventually replace the additional MLG sliding tubes. Install MLG sliding tubes that have been inspected and repaired using certain Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) specified in EASA AD 2022-0204R1, and have been done using instructions approved by the Manager, International Section, Transport Standards Branch, FAA; or EASA; or Airbus SAS's EASA DOA.
Compliance Time
Within 10,000 flight cycles or 12 months after the effective date of this AD, whichever occurs first.
