Unsafe Condition
a report of a third stage turbine wheel crack detected during engine overhaul
Required Actions
perform a dye penetrant inspection of the third stage turbine wheel, repeat the inspection within 400 engine cycles since last inspection, remove from service any third stage turbine wheels that fail the inspection
Compliance Time
within 100 engine cycles after the effective date of this AD for third stage turbine wheels with 300 engine cycles or more accumulated since last inspection, within 400 engine cycles since last inspection for third stage turbine wheels with less than 300 engine cycles accumulated since last inspection
Affected Aircraft
Turbomeca S.A., Astazou XIV B and XIV H turboshaft engines with the following part number and serial number third stage turbine wheels that incorporate modification AB 173 or modification AB 208
